Arrange delivery by confirming the site is ready for the cargo, vehicle and unloading method. A correct address is only the starting point; access, equipment and an available receiving contact determine whether delivery can actually happen.
What matters
Ask the receiver about booking slots, opening hours, vehicle restrictions and the precise unloading point. Establish who provides a forklift, crane, tail lift or specialist handling team. Confirm that the planned equipment suits the package dimensions and weight.
Connect these requirements to cargo availability and customs release before committing to a slot. For hospitals, factories or controlled sites, clarify access permits, room availability and the contact who can authorise entry. Put the instructions into the transport order, not only an email conversation.
After delivery, collect proof of delivery and record any visible damage or shortage promptly. Keep the receiving evidence with the order so commercial closure does not rely on a driver’s verbal update.
A common mistake
Booking a standard truck for a heavy shipment without agreeing who will unload it at the destination.
Does door-to-door automatically include unloading?
Not necessarily. Confirm unloading, positioning and specialist equipment explicitly in the agreed service scope.
